How do you live? by Genzaburo Yoshino
One day, I walked past several bookshelves in the library, searching for another book to read. Then, I came across a book on display. It was a simple book, but the name caught my attention. I immediately picked up and read the summarized version of the book. Unfortunately, on that day, I borrowed way too many books. Therefore, I had to put that book back in the library.
The fact that I did not borrow the book haunted me; the synopsis of the book touched me deeply, and I did not know why. Because of that, when I went for my next trip to the library, I wanted to find that book so badly. Sadly, the book was borrowed. But I was desperate to get my hands on that book, so I bought the book on Amazon.
And that decision changed my life, I'm not being dramatic or overreacting. It really did, and I'm so glad I invested in this book.
Without further ado, let me tell you about this amazing book...

This book is special to me because, like Copper ( the narrator), I tend to have a lot of thoughts about the world. That's why I immediately locked in when I read the first chapter. Because it reminded me of the curious thoughts I had about the things around me, which I kept to myself as a child. But seeing Copper having the same thoughts as me, that same child-like wonder I had as a child, made me attached to this story.
Not only that, in the story, my favorite parts were his uncle's essays on life. He guides Copper through his essays and teaches him about how one should live. His journal/essays that he gave to Copper are interesting and mind-blowing to me. It made me wish to have an uncle/aunt like him. Furthermore, he encourages Copper to stay curious and ask questions instead of hiding his thoughts. That's what I like about his uncle, he isn't judging, but he is someone who guides him and entertains his questions.
Even though I don't have an uncle/aunt like him, I strive to be like him one day.
In the upcoming posts, I’ll share the lessons I’ve learned from the book and how they’ve shaped my understanding of the world.
